Bios: Megafauna (2nd ed)
This second edition is actually a major re-working of the game, with two co-designers alongside the original creator and incorporating features from the Pax games. The game has been broadened out, so that each player is a different type of creature: insects, plants, molluscs or vertebrates. They start as their creatures climb (or squirm) out of the sea and onto land in the Paleozoic Era. The race is then on to survive through the Mesozoic, Cenozoic and Quaternary Eras.
As in the original game, the biggest threat is the changing environment: climate and geography. Players need to expand and move to other locations, to mutate and evolve separate species to survive in different places. And then they have to compete with the other players' species.
For a different challenge, players can choose Mars or Venus as the setting. Or they can start where their game of Bios: Genesis left off. Or move on to the pinnacle of evolution, Homo Sapiens, in Bios: Origins.
For 1-4 players, aged 12+, playing time 2-3 hours: £58.00 (£48.33 tax free outside the UK)
