Carnegie
I actually discovered this game through its implementation on BoardGameArena and quickly bought a copy. The idea is that you are emulating the career of Andrew Carnegie as industrialist and philanthropist. Thus, you build industries and construct railroads to make money, which you can then put into charitable causes. Which score victory points.
I like it for the clever, interlocking mechanisms – such as the need to manage the organisation of your company's departments – and the clever physical elements of the game. Notably the 'Project' tabs that players pull out as they increase their investment in specific industries and the 'Timeline' boards that control which industries they can invest in.
I find it a fascinating challenge to play.
For 1-4 players, aged 12+, playing time 90-120 minutes: £28.00 (£23.33 without tax outside the UK)
