Wir sind das Volk! (Combined Edition)

The original game (from 2014) is a two-player game of the rivalry between East and West Germany in the years after World War 2. Choosing from the available tiles each turn, players foment demonstrations (in the other side's territory), build industry and improve living standards. A lot of historical incidents are included, but don't necessarily have to be played: for example, to build the Berlin wall or not?

I really enjoyed playing it a few of times recently and, despite the apparent superiority of the West, I can confirm that the East can win.

The Combined Edition includes the 2+2 expansion. This adds two more players, representing the USA and the USSR. While the West and the USA have goals in common – as do the East and the USSR – only one player can win. This adds a whole extra dimension to the German rivalry.
