Paperback

This is the game that introduced me to Tim Fowers' games. Using letter cards to make words is nothing new, but using deck-building mechanisms to build and manage your hand is really clever. That is, you make words to buy new cards, including the 'Fame' cards that will score you points at the end of the game.

Add in to this the common cards, wild cards, cards with special abilities and the ability to 'attack' other players. And then there's the wit embodied in the illustrations: the covers from books by that best-seller, Paige Turner. Paperback is a terrific game that I really enjoy.

I also have the neat little expansion, Unabridged, not to mention the 'prequel' game, Hardback.

Paperback: Unabridged

A set of 80 cards that provide additional twists to Paperback. There are nine of these, including alternative Fame cards, three-letter cards (tricky to use, but allowing even longer words) and Typos that can "eat up" your Fame points!

Mix any or all of the new cards into the base game to provide different challenges.
