Schichtwechsel

The title means "Shift change" and this heavweight game is about managing a coal mine in Germany's Ruhr region in the second half of the twentieth century as the industry declines.

Players are competing to deploy their workers to produce more coal, turn it into coke and distribute both by road, rail and canal. However, other players are competing for the limited coke-making facilities and you need to control the water level in your mine lest your workings get submerged. It's tricky stuff.

Note that, despite the German title, the game is in English as well as German.

For 2-4 players, aged 12+, playing time 60-90 minutes: £50.00 (£41.67 tax free outside the UK)
