Vejen
This clever medieval trading game straddles the border between Denmark and the German states. The problem with this is that the two sides have their own currency. Hence it's no good having German thalers if you want to buy in Danish kroner. This is less important in the long run as both currencies score, but means you do have to manage things during the game.
The other thing to manage is events. There's one each round that may close the border (plague!) or change the 'exchange rate'. Luckily, you have a bit of time to plan for these. Planning also goes into developing your infrastructure to let you trade more goods more profitably. However, this does mean using goods for expansion rather than selling them. Decision, decisions...
I've thoroughly enjoyed playing this one.
For 2-4 players, aged 12+, taking 1-2 hours to play: £40.00 (£33.33 without tax outside the UK)
